The sauna heater is the heart of any sauna. It is
basically a rock heater as the rocks are used to smooth out and store
the heat from the source, usually electric elements. The sauna stones
absorb the harsh radiant heat from the heating elements and then
transfer that stored heat to the air by convection thus producing the
"softer" heat, which is desired.
Our heaters are made in Finland by the largest manufacturer of sauna
products. They feature stainless steel elements, are UL Listed and are
suitable for residential or commercial applications. They are designed
to accept water splashed on the stones for regulation of humidity.
The heater capacity should be matched to the size of the sauna room. A
heater that is too small will still heat a sauna room but it will take
a longer time for the room to come up to bathing temperature. A heater
that is too large is less economical and may cycle too frequently.
Furthermore, replacement heaters are limited by the wire size and
circuit breaker capacity of the existing wiring.
Sauna Stones. The sauna stones endure temperature cycling from
operation and thermal shock from the addition of water. In time, the
repeated temperature cycling will cause the stones to crack and
crumble. They should be removed from the sauna heater once a year for
cleaning and replacement as necessary. in commercial applications the
stones will typically last2 to 5 years. We offer replacement stones
imported from Finland. These are high-grade granite stones mined
specifically for use in the sauna.
Sauna control panels allow the user to regulate the temperature and
duration of the sauna session. The primary components of the panel are
the thermostat and timer. Residential sauna controls usually have a 60
minute running time limit whereas commercial control systems often
operate by means of a timeclock and remain on for much of the
operating hours of the facility.
We offer numerous types of controls with several options for various
applications. WIFI enabled compact electronic controls are always an
option, but for sheer durability we still offer mechanical capillary
type controls.
Often especially in commercial applications the controls are located
remotely to limit the access of the bathers to constantly adjusting
the temperature.
Whenever practical we recommend using a wall mounted control panel set
up vs. ones that are located directly on the heater. This is a more
user friendly set up and the controls tend to last longer since they
are not exposed to the heat and moisture of the sauna.
